Camera
AgeLapse includes a built-in camera designed for consistent photo capture. Use it to take perfectly aligned photos every time.
Camera Controls
On mobile devices (iOS/Android), you'll see these controls at the bottom of the camera screen:
| Control | Location | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Flash | Bottom-left | Toggle between Auto and Off |
| Camera Switch | Bottom-right | Switch between front and rear camera |
Flash and camera switching are only available on mobile. Desktop uses your system camera settings.
Overlay Modes
Tap the grid icon in the camera view to cycle through overlay modes:
None
Clean viewfinder with no overlay. Use when you're confident in your positioning.
Ghost
Shows a faint (30% opacity) overlay of your first stabilized photo. Align your face with the ghost image to match your previous position.
Grid
Shows guide lines only:
- Two vertical lines mark where your eyes should be
- One horizontal line marks the eye height
Ghost + Grid
Combines both the ghost image and guide lines for maximum precision.
Ghost + Grid mode gives you the best alignment accuracy. Use it when getting started or when precise positioning matters.
Customizing Guide Position
You can move the guide lines to better match your preferred framing:
- Switch to Grid or Ghost + Grid mode
- Tap Move Guides (appears at bottom-left)
- Drag the lines to your preferred position:
- Drag vertical lines left/right to adjust eye spacing
- Drag the horizontal line up/down to adjust eye height
- Tap the checkmark to save
Camera guide positions are separate from output position settings. Adjusting guides here changes where you align in the viewfinder, not where eyes appear in the final video. Adjust output position →
Tips for Consistent Photos
- Use the same camera - Front camera is recommended for selfies
- Match the ghost image - Align your eyes with the overlay
- Keep consistent lighting - Same time of day helps
- Same expression - Neutral face works best for alignment
- Hold steady - The camera countdown gives you time to settle
